Shadow in clinic & the OR
Follow physicians through outpatient clinics and operating rooms as they care for patients.
A hands-on summer program where motivated high school students step inside Houston Methodist Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Specialists to shadow surgeons, explore the OR, and discover where a career in medicine can begin.
Designed for highly motivated high school students, this two-week experience opens the doors of an academic surgical department — from the clinic and the OR to the research lab and the simulation center. The program pairs clinical observation and mentorship with hands-on educational experiences across a wide range of specialties and care teams.
“We are eager to offer an internship program that focuses on the dynamic field of this wonderful specialty. The program would be designed to provide your students with a comprehensive insight into the medical and surgical aspects of Otolaryngology.”

Division ChiefOtolaryngology — better known as ear, nose & throat (ENT) — is the medical and surgical specialty that cares for the whole head and neck: hearing and balance, breathing and sinuses, voice and swallowing.
It's one of the most diverse fields in medicine. ENT physicians care for patients of every age and treat conditions with both medicine and surgery, working across six subspecialties that span the ear and hearing, the nose and sinuses, and the voice and throat.
As an academic department, we bring patient care, research, and teaching together under one roof — training the surgeons, scientists, and care teams of the future.
Every day brings something new. Here's the kind of access students get across the two weeks.
